Extended Power Cuts Hit Life Republic Township; Supriya Sule Demands Urgent MSEDCL Action
Pune, 9th July 2025: Daily life has been severely disrupted for residents of Marunji’s Life Republic Township and nearby Jambhe village, who have been receiving only four hours of electricity per day over the last four days. Mounting frustration among citizens has prompted NCP MP Supriya Sule to raise the issue publicly, urging Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) to take immediate corrective measures.
A scheduled maintenance shutdown triggered the power disruption carried out by Mahapareshan (MSETCL) on Sunday, July 6, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. During restoration work later that afternoon, a major fault developed in the Infosys–Pegasus underground cable around 2:15 p.m., leading to a widespread outage.
According to MSEDCL, the outage impacted power supply to 91 high-tension consumers and roughly 52,000 low-tension connections across key areas including Hinjewadi, MIDC, and the IT Park. Among those affected were 20,000 customers in Pimpri and another 32,000 in Mulshi.
In response, MSEDCL implemented rotational and temporary power supply solutions for some IT companies and housing societies. However, several localities — including the densely populated Life Republic Township — continue to experience an unstable electricity supply.
Taking note of the situation, Supriya Sule used the social media platform ‘X’ to press MSEDCL for quick resolution. She highlighted the gravity of the issue and stressed the need to restore consistent power to one of Pune’s fastest-growing residential and commercial corridors.
Residents have echoed the demand, urging authorities to prioritize technical repairs and restore essential services without further delay.
