Kondhwa, 15th July 2025: In a swift operation, Kondhwa Police arrested seven accused and detained two minors within 12 hours of an attempted murder incident that terrorized residents of the Gokulnagar area on July 11.

The incident occurred around 10 PM near SBI Corner in Gokulnagar Chowk, when a young man was brutally attacked by a group wielding sharp weapons. The accused allegedly stabbed the victim on the head, back, waist, and hand, and created panic by brandishing swords in the air. The attack was reportedly fueled by previous enmity.

The arrested have been identified as:
Raju alias Raja Sangappa Gulkar (18),
Tanveer Akram Sheikh (19),
Surendra alias Amar Bhuvaneshwar Sav (19),
Kailas Baburao Gaikwad (22),
Kaviraj alias KD Sudam Devkate (19),
Prem alias Papya Yallesh Ghungargi (22),
Yash alias Mas Amber Sontakke (18), all residents of Sainagar, Salve Garden Road, Kondhwa
Two minors were also involved in the assault and have been detained. The main conspirator, Raju Gulkar, is said to have plotted the attack with others due to a past dispute with the victim.

“The accused not only attempted to kill the youth but also disturbed public peace by openly displaying swords and instilling fear among citizens,” said Senior Police Inspector Vinay Patankar of Kondhwa Police Station.

Based on a complaint filed by the victim, an FIR (No. 537/2025) was registered on July 12 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) — 109, 189(2), 189(4), 191(1), and 191(3) — along with sections of the Arms Act and the Maharashtra Police Act.

Taking the case seriously, Inspector (Crime) Navnath Jagtap and Inspector (Crime) Varsha Deshmukh initiated the manhunt. Four police teams were formed after receiving intelligence that the accused were hiding in a vacant room behind Salve Garden.

“Acting on specific inputs, our teams surrounded the area, apprehended all nine involved, and took them into custody,” Inspector Patankar added.

Assistant Police Inspector Rakesh Jadhav led the operation along with police personnel Suraj Shukla, Abhijit Jadhav, Vijay Khengre, and Rahul Shelar. The arrested have been remanded to police custody until July 16, and further investigation is underway under Police Sub-Inspector Pankaj Khopde.
