Tourist Homes Scheme Launched to Boost Cultural Tourism in Pune
Pune, 17th July 2025: In a move aimed at enhancing the tourism experience for domestic and international visitors, the Directorate of Tourism, Pune Division, has launched a business opportunity under its Tourist Home Scheme. The initiative covers various accommodation formats, including Tourist Homes, Home Stays, Tourist Villas, and Tourist Apartments.
P. Shama Pawar, Deputy Director of Tourism (Pune Division), has urged local residents and tourism professionals to register under the scheme and offer their properties as licensed accommodations. The scheme is designed to allow visitors a chance to engage more closely with local culture, lifestyle, and traditions during their stay.
“This initiative not only creates business opportunities for locals but also gives tourists a richer, more authentic experience of Maharashtra,” said Pawar. “From homemade Maharashtrian cuisine to family conversations, this scheme aims to make every visitor’s journey more meaningful.”
Officials believe this push will also support the growing demand for cultural and experiential tourism in Pune and surrounding regions.
Interested individuals can contact the Tourism Directorate during office hours at 8080035134 for further details or registration assistance.
The scheme is expected to contribute significantly to local employment and encourage responsible tourism by promoting community participation.
