Pune to Lonavala in AC E-Buses for Rs 500: PMPML’s New Tourist Offering
Pune, 18th July 2025: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) continues to receive strong public response for its dedicated tourist bus services. On Friday morning, the PMPML launched Tourist Bus Service No. 11, with three eco-friendly air-conditioned e-buses flagged off from the Swargate bus stand.
The new service was formally inaugurated at 8:30 am by PMPML Chairperson and Managing Director Deepa Mudhol-Munde, who flagged off the buses in the presence of senior officials including Chief Transport Manager (Operations) Satish Gavane, Transport Planning Officer Narayan Karde, Labour and Public Relations Officer Kishore Chauhan, Pune Station Depot Manager Shailesh Jagtap, and Statistical Officer Rajesh Bunge.
A total of 99 tourists had booked seats for the inaugural journey on Route No. 11, with a notable participation of women travelers. Speaking at the event, Mudhol-Munde said, “PMPML’s tourist bus initiative has garnered encouraging response, particularly from women. I urge more citizens to take advantage of this safe, affordable and eco-friendly travel option.”
Tourist Bus Route No. 11 Details:
- Route: Swargate → Deccan Gymkhana → Ekvira Devi Temple / Karla Caves → Lonavala Railway Station (Tourists can visit Bhushi Dam, Manashakti Dhyan Kendra, Wax Museum, etc., using private transport at personal expense) → Swargate.
- Fare: ₹500 per passenger.
- Booking: Available at PMPML pass centers across Deccan Gymkhana, Pune Station, Swargate, Katraj, Hadapsar Gadi Tal, Pune Municipal Bhavan, Nigdi, and Bhosari.
Additional Features and Guidelines:
- Groups booking an entire 33-seater bus will receive 5 complimentary seats.
- Tourist services were earlier limited to weekends and public holidays, but will now run daily if there is adequate demand.
- In case of cancellation or low bookings, alternate travel dates will be offered.
- Ticket holders can commute on PMPML buses from their residence to the departure point and back home using the same ticket on the day of travel.
- A guide will be present on each bus to provide travel and site information.

The PMPML tourist bus service now operates 11 fixed routes covering religious and popular tourist spots around Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The initiative aims to provide an affordable and environment-friendly travel option for both residents and visitors to explore local attractions.
