Pune: SPPU Pays Tribute to Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe on His Death Anniversary
Pune, 18th July 2025: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) on Thursday paid heartfelt tribute to Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe on the occasion of his death anniversary. The commemorative event took place at the Jaykar Library, where university officials and staff gathered to honour the legacy of the iconic social reformer and folk poet.
SPPU Vice Chancellor Dr. Suresh Gosavi and Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Parag Kalkar led the ceremony by offering floral tributes to Annabhau Sathe’s oil painting. The dignitaries also paid homage to the oil paintings and statues of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and Lokmanya Tilak, all located within the library premises.
In-charge Registrar Dr. Jyoti Bhakere, Management Council Member Ravindra Singanapurkar, Chair Professor Dr. Sunil Bhange, Department Head Prof. Dr. Vilas Adhav, Jaykar Library Librarian Dr. Sanjay Desale, and Senate Member Dr. Rajendra Ghode were among those who participated in the tribute ceremony.
The event witnessed the presence of university faculty, non-teaching staff, and representatives from various organizations, all coming together to remember and honour the contributions of Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe to literature and social justice.
