Mundhwa, 24th July 2025: Due to the Pune Municipal Corporation’s failure to carry out pre-monsoon cleaning on the Mula-Mutha River bridge in Mundhwa, persistent rains have turned the bridge into a virtual stream, severely disrupting traffic flow and endangering commuters. Waterlogging on the bridge has made the surface slippery, leading to frequent skidding incidents, particularly involving two-wheelers.

The road connecting Hadapsar, Mundhwa, and Kharadi sees heavy vehicular movement, including frequent passage of heavy vehicles. Even moderate rainfall results in water accumulating on the bridge. Mud and dust settled over time have now mixed with the rainwater, making the road surface dangerously slick. Two-wheeler riders navigating through the flooded stretch have been slipping and sustaining minor injuries, eyewitnesses said.

Citizens have criticized the PMC’s Road Department for its negligence, stating that timely cleaning could have averted this hazard. They have now demanded immediate intervention to prevent further mishaps.

Addressing the issue, Sheetal Wakde, Assistant Commissioner of the Nagar Road Ward Office, stated that instructions have been given to the officials to clean the blocked drainage paths on the bridge within the next two to three days.
