Thailand Travel Rules For Indians: 30-Day Visa-Free Entry From September 15
Bangkok, 9th September 2026: Indian travellers planning a trip to Thailand will be able to enter the country without a visa for tourism for up to 30 days from September 15, 2026, according to an advisory issued by the Embassy of India in Bangkok.
As notified by the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Thailand, the visa exemption applies to Indian ordinary passport holders travelling to Thailand for tourism purposes. Travellers will be permitted to stay in Thailand for a period not exceeding 30 days.
However, tourists will need to meet certain requirements before travelling and at the time of immigration.
Visitors must carry a valid passport with at least six months of validity from the date of arrival. They should also have confirmed return tickets, confirmed hotel bookings and clear travel plans and itineraries.
Travellers are required to complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before arrival. The advisory states that the TDAC can be filled within 72 hours before arrival through the official Thailand Immigration website.
Indian travellers have also been advised to carry an appropriate visa according to the purpose of their travel if their visit does not fall under the visa-exemption facility.
Those travelling under the visa-exemption facility must carry at least THB 20,000 per passenger in cash. The Embassy has advised travellers to keep all required documents readily available before proceeding to the immigration counter.
For group travellers, each member is required to carry the documents individually rather than relying on documents held by another member of the group.
The advisory also cautions visitors against availing themselves of the visa-exemption facility if they have a job offer in Thailand.
Travellers transiting through Thailand have also been advised to carry all relevant documents related to their final destination, including an appropriate visa wherever necessary.
The new advisory comes ahead of the September 15 implementation date and provides Indian tourists with a checklist of documents and requirements to keep ready before travelling to Thailand.
