Pune: Free Legal Awareness Camp Held in Bhudwadi by DES Shri Navalmal Firodia Law College

Bhudwadi, 28th July 2025: A one-day free legal awareness camp was successfully organized at Bhudwadi (Tal. Maval, Dist. Pune) by the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit and Legal Aid Committee of DES Shri Navalmal Firodia Law College, Pune. The initiative aimed to raise legal awareness among rural citizens, especially about their basic legal rights and entitlements. The event received an overwhelming response from local residents.

The camp was conducted under the guidance of Adv. Ashok Palande, Vice President of the DES Regulatory Board and Chairman of the College Development Committee, and under the leadership of Principal Dr. Sunita Aadhav. Dr. Neeta Ahir (NSS Programme Officer & Legal Aid Coordinator) and Assistant Professor Ajinkya Waghmare (Legal Aid Coordinator) meticulously coordinated the entire event.

A team of 30 law students, 6 faculty members, and 3 non-teaching staff from the college participated in the programme. The event began with a formal welcome of the chief guests, followed by informative sessions delivered by students on crucial topics such as Farmer Insurance Schemes, Land Rights, Women Protection Laws, Domestic Violence, Child Rights, Senior Citizens’ Rights, and the Role of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA). The guidance was presented in a simple, direct, and relatable language for the benefit of the villagers.

A major highlight of the programme was a street play (Nukkad Natak) performed by students, creatively portraying common legal issues and remedies. The camp also included door-to-door visits where students provided personal legal advice, conducted special sessions for women, and distributed judicial awareness pamphlets.

Demonstrating their commitment to social responsibility, the students also undertook a tree plantation drive, planting 10 saplings to spread the message of environmental conservation.

Local dignitaries, including Sarpanch Sunita Yogesh Shinde, Deputy Sarpanch Anusuya Shedge, and Police Patil Ravindra Vasant Takalkar, were present, extending their warm support and appreciating the students’ initiative.

Organisers emphasized that such initiatives promote legal literacy in rural areas, enhance public dialogue on justice and equality, and foster responsible citizenship.
