Pune: Senior Citizen Dies of Shock After Losing Son and Granddaughters in Baramati Road Accident
Baramati, 28th July 2025: A 70-year-old man passed away on Monday morning after suffering shock from the death of his son and two granddaughters in a fatal road accident that took place in Baramati on Sunday.
The deceased senior citizen has been identified as Rajendra Acharya, a retired school teacher. Just a day earlier, his son Omkar Acharya (36) and granddaughters Sai (10) and Madhura (4) lost their lives in a road mishap. The accident occurred around 11:30 am on Sunday at Mahatma Phule Chowk on Morgaon Road, when a dumper reportedly being driven recklessly collided with their two-wheeler. All three died on the spot.
A case has been registered against the dumper driver, Dashrath Dole, who has been arrested by Baramati City Police.
Sources said Rajendra Acharya had been unwell and was recently discharged from the hospital just a couple of days ago. However, the sudden loss of his son and granddaughters deeply affected him, and he succumbed to the shock early Monday morning.
Reacting to the heartbreaking incident, Baramati MP Supriya Sule posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“The tragic news that Rajendra Acharya, a retired teacher and father of Omkar Acharya, passed away today is deeply moving, following the horrific accident in Khondobanagar, Baramati yesterday that claimed the lives of Omkar Acharya and his two daughters, Sai and Madhura. We all share in the immense grief that has befallen the Acharya family. Heartfelt condolences.”
