Pune: Implement Work-from-Home for Hinjawadi Employees – MP Supriya Sule Urges Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis
Hinjawadi, 29th July 2025: In light of worsening traffic congestion in Pune’s Hinjawadi IT Park, Baramati’s Member of Parliament Supriya Sule has called on Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to direct IT companies in the region to permit employees to work from home until a sustainable traffic management solution is put in place.
Sule, in her official communication to the CM, highlighted the urgent need for flexibility for professionals operating in the Rajiv Gandhi IT Park, a globally reputed tech corridor. She pointed out that the persistent traffic snarls, deteriorating road conditions, and unreliable water and electricity supply are severely disrupting the daily lives of employees and residents from adjoining localities such as Maan, Marunji, Jambhe, Gahunje, Nande, Lavale, Pirangut, and Bhukum.
To ensure systematic development, Sule proposed setting up a dedicated governing body, either a Special City Development Authority or an Industrial Township Authority. This body, she argued, would allow better resource allocation, improve service delivery, and streamline urban planning in the rapidly growing tech zone.
Recognizing the fragmentation among various civic and government agencies, Sule also recommended the appointment of a single nodal officer to ensure seamless coordination between Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Maha Metro, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), Public Works Department (PWD) and the police.
In response, the Pune Divisional Commissioner has been appointed as the central coordinating authority for this initiative.
Sule emphasized that until infrastructural issues are addressed, IT companies should consider shifting to a hybrid or remote work model. This, she said, would reduce strain on public transport systems and provide immediate relief to commuters and local authorities working on long-term planning.
She urged the state government to consider the proposal seriously and collaborate with industry leaders to implement the temporary work-from-home arrangement.
