Pune, 31st July 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will begin accepting online applications for its annual scholarship scheme for meritorious students who passed their Class 10 (SSC) and Class 12 (HSC) examinations with high scores, starting from August 1, 2025. The last date to submit applications is December 31, 2025, according to PMC’s Deputy Commissioner of Social Welfare, Arvind Mali.

Under this initiative, students residing within PMC limits who have excelled in their SSC or HSC exams are provided financial assistance to support their further education. The scheme provides ₹15,000 to students passing SSC under the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Scholarship Scheme and ₹25,000 to students passing HSC under the Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe Financial Assistance Scheme.

Applications must be submitted online through the official PMC Direct Benefit Transfer portal: dbt.pmc.gov.in, and only submissions marked as “final” will be processed—applications saved as “draft” will not be considered.

Eligibility Criteria:
General Category Students: Must have scored more than 80% marks in SSC or HSC examinations.
PMC School Students & Reserved Category Candidates: Minimum 70% marks required.
Students with Disabilities (Above 40% Disability): Minimum 55% marks.
Children of Unorganised Sanitation Workers and Bio-Gas Project Workers: Must have scored at least 65% marks.

Additionally, the student must have secured admission in a government-recognized educational institution after Class 10 or 12 and must have an account in a nationalised bank to receive the scholarship directly.

A Shift Toward Transparency and Efficiency
Previously, students submitted physical forms to local ward offices and received cheques via corporators. However, in recent years, PMC has revamped the process, and scholarship amounts are now transferred directly to students’ bank accounts, ensuring transparency and timely disbursement.

Each year, the PMC allocates approximately ₹15 to ₹20 crore in its budget for this scholarship initiative, which aims to encourage higher education among deserving students from all socioeconomic backgrounds.
