Rohit Pawar Slams Mahayuti Govt Over Industry Exodus, Crime in Pune, and Communal Tensions
Pune, 2nd August 2025: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) MLA Rohit Pawar launched a scathing attack on the Mahayuti government, raising serious concerns about the exodus of industries from the Pune region, deteriorating law and order, and rising communal tensions in Maharashtra.
Speaking to reporters, Pawar said, “Many companies are leaving Pune. Industries from Talegaon, Chakan and other industrial belts are shifting out. If Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis claims there is ‘bigotry’ at play, then he must clarify – is it the bigotry of BJP, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, or Ajit Pawar’s NCP faction?”
Pawar demanded transparency on who is responsible for the policy paralysis affecting the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) regions. “Fadnavis should publicly name whose bigotry is causing companies to leave. People deserve clarity,” he said.
Allegations of Political Infighting in Mahayuti
The NCP (SP) leader also hinted at deep fissures within the ruling alliance of BJP, Shinde Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP. “Whenever Eknath Shinde visits any location, internal discord becomes apparent. Instead of resolving issues, Maharashtra’s people are growing increasingly frustrated. Development has come to a halt,” Pawar claimed.
He further accused the BJP of deliberately facilitating the relocation of industries to Gujarat. “If CM Fadnavis is aware of everything and still letting companies move, it clearly indicates BJP’s role,” he alleged.
On Yavatmal Incident and Communal Harmony
Referring to the recent tensions in Yavat, Pawar stressed on maintaining communal harmony and respecting all communities. “A few days ago, there was unrest in Yavat, but both Hindu and Muslim citizens worked together to restore peace. However, a person from Nanded later posted a provocative WhatsApp status, attempting to disturb the calm once again,” he said.
Without naming anyone, Pawar warned against efforts to polarize society. “Local communities want peace. If you’re in a role of uniting communities, don’t vitiate the atmosphere with divisive acts,” he cautioned.
He also condemned the alleged mistreatment of dogs belonging to a prominent leader. “We must ensure the dogs of great leaders are not humiliated. Respect must be upheld,” Pawar added.
Criticism of Pune Police Commissioner and Crime Surge
On rising crime in Pune, Pawar accused the city police commissioner of inaction and bias. “Incidents of ‘koyata’ gang violence have increased sharply. The commissioner seems indifferent to the city’s law and order. He appears more focused on troubling Ajit Puranik from the Shinde faction than ensuring public safety,” he alleged.
Pawar warned that the law and order situation across Maharashtra is deteriorating rapidly under the current administration.
Swipe at Former MLA and Viral Video
Without naming anyone directly, Pawar took a veiled dig at a former MLA, believed to be from Barshi, whose children’s objectionable video has recently gone viral. “Due to arrogance and behaviour, Rao is now sitting at home. The video of the Barshi MLA’s children is truly unfortunate. It’s best if he remains silent now,” Pawar said.
Opposition Mounts Pressure
With Lok Sabha elections behind and Assembly polls due next year, opposition parties like the NCP (SP) are intensifying their criticism of the Mahayuti government. Rohit Pawar’s pointed remarks add to the growing narrative of administrative failure, policy confusion, and rising public dissatisfaction with the ruling coalition.
