Pune: Rohini Khadse Alleges Political Targeting, Says Will Respond at Right Time
Pune, 2nd August 2025: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) leader Rohini Khadse claimed that opposition leaders in Maharashtra are being selectively targeted for speaking out against the government. Addressing the media, she maintained a cautious tone but hinted at political vendetta in recent developments. Her husband Dr Pranjal Khewalkar and six others have been arrested by Pune city police in connection with a drug party.
“I met Saheb (Sharad Pawar) to discuss the party’s organisational matters. He is aware of everything,” she said, adding that she would present her side of the story at an appropriate time and platform. “The matter is now sub judice, so I won’t comment on court proceedings. But I will speak at the right time with the press,” Khadse added.
Questions on Pune Police and Political Pressure
Responding to questions raised about the functioning of the Pune Police in connection with recent surveillance allegations, Khadse said, “The answers are there. All of Maharashtra knows what is happening to those who raise their voices against the government.”
She also hinted at selective action against opposition voices, stating, “There is enough reason to believe that leaders from the opposition are being targeted.”
On Viral Video and NDPS Act
Referring to a recent video that has triggered public and media attention, Khadse called for legal action as per the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. “Action should be taken according to the NDPS Act,” she said, while avoiding direct reference to individuals involved in the case.
Khadse also addressed criticism from political opponents. “Let them criticize me. I will respond to everything in due course,” she said.
Police Clarification on Surveillance Allegations
Amid claims of political surveillance, Khadse cited police statements which denied any such motive. “The police have said that it was not their intention to keep anyone under surveillance,” she said, suggesting that the situation has been misrepresented to fuel political controversy.
