Pune, 3rd August 2025: The fourth round of the online First Year Junior College (FYJC) admission process concluded on Saturday, with 86% of the allotted students confirming their admissions within the given deadline. The Directorate of Higher Education is now preparing to roll out the schedule for the next phase, an open round for all eligible candidates, which will be announced on Sunday.

According to Dr. Mahesh Palekar, Director of Education, the open round will offer a fresh opportunity for students who have not yet secured admission, those who have not registered so far, and those who recently passed their supplementary examinations.

In the fourth round, a total of 3,72,652 students had applied through the centralised admission process (CAP), while 13,829 students submitted applications under the quota category. Out of the 83,944 students who were allotted seats in this round, 72,752 confirmed their admissions between July 31 and August 2. Of these, 52,828 students were admitted through the CAP process and 17,814 secured seats under reserved quotas.

“This will be the final chance for students who’ve missed out in the previous rounds,” Dr. Palekar said, adding that all vacant seats across junior colleges will be made available for open admissions in the upcoming phase.

Statewide, there are 9,552 junior colleges offering a total of 21,43,610 seats. As of the end of the fourth round, 8,84,373 students have secured admissions.
