Pune, 19th August 2025: In a step towards integrating Pune’s public transport system, PMPML passengers will soon be able to book Pune Metro tickets directly through their mobile apps. The move comes after a meeting between the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) and Pune Metro administrations, where both agreed to share their Application Programming Interface (API) to connect ticketing systems.

PMPML Chairman and Managing Director Pankaj Deore confirmed the development. “We recently held discussions with Metro officials regarding an integrated ticketing system. It has been decided to provide API access to each other, and this system will be launched soon,” Deore said.

Tech teams to finalize rollout
The technical teams of both PMPML and Metro will hold a meeting this week to finalize the implementation plan and timeline. The new system will allow passengers using PMPML’s ‘Aapli PMPML’ app to buy Metro tickets, and Metro app users to purchase PMPML bus tickets.

Officials said that once live, the feature will save time and offer greater convenience to commuters by eliminating the need to switch between multiple apps or counters.

Passenger base to benefit
Currently, nearly 10 lakh passengers travel daily using PMPML services, while Metro records about 1 lakh daily commuters. The ‘Aapli PMPML’ mobile app already has a significant user base, and around 1 lakh passengers have downloaded the Metro app. By integrating both systems, passenger ticketing data and travel history will be seamlessly transferred across platforms.

“This initiative will directly benefit the people of Pune by making the city’s public transport system more connected, reliable, and user-friendly,” Deore added.

If implemented smoothly, the initiative is expected to become a milestone in creating an integrated public transport ecosystem in Pune.
