Pune, 19th August 2025: Heavy rains on Monday disrupted air traffic and road transport in Pune, causing inconvenience to hundreds of passengers.

An IndiGo flight (6E-5387) from Delhi to Pune, scheduled to land at 1:20 pm, was diverted to Hyderabad due to poor visibility and bad weather conditions. In addition, three departing flights from Pune airport were delayed by several hours.

The affected flights included IndiGo’s Pune–Delhi service (6E-2285), which was scheduled to take off at 2:05 pm but departed at 4:35 pm; Pune–Jalgaon (IC-5606), scheduled for 3:55 pm but departing at 5:40 pm; and SpiceJet’s Pune–Jaipur flight (SG-1080), which was supposed to leave at 5:30 pm but finally departed late in the evening.

Road transport hit too
The rains also impacted road connectivity. Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation’s (MSRTC) Shivneri bus service between Mumbai and Pune faced delays of nearly an hour in reaching Swargate, owing to waterlogging and traffic congestion in Mumbai. Traffic on the Pune–Mumbai Expressway moved at a slower pace throughout the day due to continuous showers.

However, railway officials confirmed that train services were unaffected despite the heavy rainfall.

The weather-induced disruptions left many passengers stranded at airports and bus stands, highlighting once again how monsoon rains can paralyze Pune’s transport network.
