Pune: Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing Near Lonavala, All Safe
Paud, 19th August 2025: A helicopter made an emergency landing in Saltar village, about 30 kilometers from Lonavala in Pune district, on August 15 due to heavy rain and dense fog. The incident caused panic among local residents, but fortunately, all six people on board, including two pilots and four passengers, were unharmed.
According to information received, the helicopter was en route to Lonavala when it encountered sudden adverse weather conditions. With visibility reduced drastically due to persistent rainfall in the region, the pilot was unable to navigate further. Assessing the risk, the pilot decided to land in an open field near Saltar village to ensure the safety of the passengers.
Eyewitnesses from the village said they were startled to see the helicopter descending suddenly but were relieved when it landed safely. “We rushed towards the field thinking something had gone wrong, but were glad to see everyone safe,” a villager said.
The incident highlights the impact of continuous heavy rainfall in Lonavala and surrounding areas over the past few days, which has led to poor visibility and difficult flying conditions.
Authorities have been informed, and no damage or casualties were reported.
