Pune, 26th August 2025: Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) chief Adv. Prakash Ambedkar has launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him the “Prime Minister of Sanatan Hindutva” rather than a leader for the entire nation. He claimed that India currently lacks leaders who prioritize the nation over party politics.

Speaking at a press interaction organized by the Pune Union of Working Journalists, Ambedkar said, “The last leader who placed the nation above the party was former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, followed later by Dr. Manmohan Singh as a nationalist leader. After them, no leader has truly emerged at the national level. Today, we only see party leaders, not national leaders.”

Ambedkar also commented on India’s foreign policy challenges, pointing out that global tariffs imposed by former U.S. President Donald Trump could still impact Indian markets. “During Operation Sindhur, we stood alone; even countries like Iran maintain relations with both India and Pakistan. There are conflicts between states within India today — such issues need strong political leadership, which is currently missing,” he said.

On the ongoing Maratha quota agitation led by Manoj Jarange Patil, Ambedkar remarked that Jarange is fighting for the cause of rural Marathas, while the benefits often go to elite Marathas. “He must continue to stand up for the grassroots Marathas. However, I urge the OBC community not to fall into political traps like in the past. OBC leadership weakened during the last assembly elections due to such tactics. Now, Jarange is protesting for Maratha reservation, and Sharad Pawar is on the streets for OBCs. The OBCs must chart their own independent political path,” he added.

When asked about Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of vote theft, Ambedkar criticized the Election Commission, claiming discrepancies in voter lists. “The Commission itself admits that it has no records of votes cast after 6 p.m. during the last assembly elections. There are duplicate names in voter rolls. What we are witnessing is just a show of resistance, but the deeper systemic issues remain unaddressed,” Ambedkar asserted.
