Pune Ganeshotsav 2025: Liquor Sale Banned to Ensure Law and Order

Pune, 27th August 2025: The Pune administration has announced a complete ban on the sale of liquor in the limits of Khadak, Vishrambag, and Faraskhana police stations for eleven days, from Wednesday, August 27, to September 7, coinciding with the Ganeshotsav festival.

Additionally, District Collector Jitendra Dudi has ordered a district-wide ban on liquor sales on the days of Ganesh Chaturthi and Anant Chaturdashi. The central part of Pune hosts several prestigious Ganapati mandals, drawing large crowds of devotees who come to witness the festive celebrations.

The order aims to prevent law and order issues during the festival. Installation of Shri Ganesh idols will take place today, while immersion ceremonies are scheduled for the second day of Anant Chaturdashi, September 7. On this day, all liquor shops within the Pune Municipal Corporation limits will remain closed.

Authorities have clarified that strict action under the Prohibition Act will be taken against anyone violating the ban.

The administration has urged citizens to cooperate and ensure a safe and peaceful Ganeshotsav celebration.
