50% of Farmers Submit Consent Letters for Purandar International Airport
Pune, 2nd September 2025: Nearly half of the farmers whose land has been identified for the proposed Purandar International Airport have submitted their consent letters to the district administration within just a week of the acquisition process beginning.
District Collector Jitendra Dudi informed that landowners covering around 1,450 acres of the revised 3,000-acre (1,285-hectare) airport project have agreed to the acquisition. “Close to 50 percent of the farmers from the seven villages included in the project have given their approval,” Dudi said.
The project had earlier faced strong opposition, particularly from residents of Pargaon village, which accounts for a large share of the land.
Officials from the land acquisition department confirmed that over 1,000 farmers have already submitted their consent letters at the collector’s office in Pune as well as at the Saswad sub-divisional office during the past week. The consent process will remain open until September 18.
In order to encourage faster participation, the administration has rolled out a compensation package. Along with monetary compensation, farmers will also be allotted 10 percent of their acquired land back in the form of developed plots within the proposed Aerocity project adjoining the airport.
