Pune, 3rd September 2025: In a move that comes as a relief to thousands of anxious students and parents, the Maharashtra State Education Department has announced one final special round of admissions for Class 11. The round will be conducted from September 3 to 6, with the merit list scheduled for release on September 8. Students allotted seats will have until September 9 to confirm their admission.

Why Another Round?
Although the last round was declared the “final opportunity,” officials say many students were still left without seats. In the most recent cycle, 38,853 students received admission offers, of which 37,074 confirmed their seats — 34,295 through the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) and 2,779 under the reserved quota.

However, nearly 1,500 students did not accept their allotted seats, and about 11,000 students were not allotted any seat at all. To ensure these students do not lose a year, the department decided to give one more chance.

According to official data, 21,59,232 seats were available this year across 9,535 junior colleges in Maharashtra. So far, 13,43,969 admissions have been confirmed, leaving over 8 lakh seats still vacant.

Dr. Mahesh Palekar, Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, said, “We had declared the last special round as the final one. But seeing the large number of students left out, the department decided to conduct one more round so that every eligible student gets a fair chance.”
