Pune, 6th September 2025: To provide relief to commuters during the Ganesh Visarjan processions, MahaMetro will operate metro services in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad for 41 hours continuously from Saturday morning (September 6) to Sunday night (September 7).

During this extended operation, a total of 1,390 metro trips will be conducted on the Vanaz–Ramwadi and Pimpri Chinchwad–Swargate routes. Trains will run at a minimum frequency of three minutes on the Pimpri Chinchwad–Swargate route, officials said.

The metro has seen an overwhelming response during Ganesh Chaturthi this year, leading to an extension of service hours. As thousands of citizens from the suburbs are expected to visit the city centre for immersion processions, MahaMetro has made special arrangements to manage the crowd at key stations, including Mahatma Phule Mandai, Kasba Peth, Shivajinagar Court, and Swargate.

“Special planning has been carried out to ensure smooth passenger movement during the Visarjan weekend. Considering the expected rush at Mahatma Phule Mandai station, passengers are requested to use Kasba and Shivajinagar Court stations as alternatives,” said Chandrashekhar Tambavekar, Public Relations Officer, MahaMetro.

To handle the rush, manpower will be deployed in two shifts, and an independent metro service is being planned on the busy Shivajinagar Court–Swargate stretch. The number of trips on this route will be adjusted based on passenger demand, with a minimum frequency of three minutes.

MahaMetro has also appealed to commuters to cooperate by allowing passengers to deboard first before boarding the trains.
