Rain to Accompany Ganesh Visarjan in Pune? IMD Predicts Cloudy Skies and Showers
Pune, 6th September 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast cloudy skies with light rain in Pune and surrounding areas on Saturday, coinciding with Ganesh Visarjan celebrations. Rain activity is expected across Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha as the state prepares to bid farewell to Lord Ganesha.
According to the IMD, a low-pressure system over central western Madhya Pradesh has intensified into a well-marked low-pressure area over northwestern Madhya Pradesh and adjoining eastern Rajasthan. This development has triggered rainfall across parts of Maharashtra, including Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra.

Orange Alert: Extremely heavy rainfall is forecast at isolated places in Palghar, Dhule, Nandurbar, and Nashik districts on Saturday, prompting an orange alert.
The IMD has further indicated that rain will persist along most parts of the Konkan coast over the next three days, raising the possibility of weather-related disruptions during festive processions.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious during Ganesh immersion ceremonies, especially in flood-prone and ghat regions where heavy rain is expected.
