Pune, 9th September 2025: The investigation into the murder of Govind alias Ayush Komkar, son of Ganesh Komkar—the prime accused in the killing of former NCP corporator Vanraj Andekar—has intensified, with Pune Police arresting six members of the Andekar gang.
Ayush Komkar was shot dead on September 5 by two assailants allegedly linked to the Andekar gang. Following the incident, Samarth Police registered a case against 13 persons, including Bandu Andekar, Krishna Andekar, Shubham Andekar, Abhishek Andekar, Lakshmi Andekar, Shivraj Andekar, Yash Patil, Amit Patole, Aman Pathan, Sujal Mergu, Swaraj Wadekar, Tushar Wadekar and Vrindavani Wadekar.
On September 6, Yash Patil and Amit Patole were arrested and remanded in police custody till September 12. Subsequently, six more accused—Bandu Andekar, Swaraj Wadekar, Tushar Wadekar, Vrindavani Wadekar, Aman Pathan and Sujal Mergu—were taken into custody, said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pankaj Deshmukh.
When produced in court, the judge asked the accused if they had any complaints against the police. At this point, main accused Bandu Andekar claimed, “When the crime was committed, I was in Kerala. I have been falsely implicated in this case.”
The prosecution, however, pressed for seven days of police custody, arguing that investigators need time to probe when the conspiracy was planned, trace the two-wheeler and firearm used in the crime, and recover the clothes worn at the time of the incident.
Defence lawyers countered, asserting that Bandu Andekar was not here during the murder and questioned why he would orchestrate the killing of his own grandson, alleging that the charges were fabricated.
After hearing both sides, the court remanded the six accused in police custody till September 15. Police teams are continuing their search for the remaining five suspects.
