Pune, 10th September 2025: In a major push to decongest Hinjewadi IT Park and expand Pune’s technology corridor, the Maharashtra government has started the process of establishing a new IT park in Purandar taluka, located near the upcoming Pune International Airport and the proposed logistics hub.

Industry Minister Uday Samant has instructed officials to accelerate the land acquisition process. Acting on these directions, the Industry Department has formally written to the Revenue Department to transfer government-owned land in Dive, Chambali, and Kodit villages.

Earlier objections over certain parcels of land have now been cleared, paving the way for swift progress. Sources said the government considers Purandar a natural expansion zone for IT development, especially as Hinjewadi grapples with overburdened infrastructure.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, during a recent review visit to Hinjewadi, had warned that delays in road widening and facility upgrades were forcing companies to consider shifting operations outside Maharashtra. He directed local authorities to fast-track pending works, stressing the urgent need for alternatives.

Officials confirmed that preliminary meetings have been completed, and since the identified land belongs to the government, acquisition is expected to face minimal hurdles.

If successfully executed, the Purandar IT Park will:
Provide relief to Hinjewadi’s congested ecosystem.
Create a new IT growth hub near the international airport.
Ensure balanced regional development while retaining investments within the state.

The Purandar IT Park is being positioned as Maharashtra’s next big IT destination, blending strategic location with strong government backing.
