Pune Residents Take Charge: Over 42,000 Complaints Filed on Traffic App
Pune, 15th September 2025: Citizens can now play an active role in curbing traffic violations through the Pune Traffic App (PTP App). By simply taking a picture of a rule-breaking vehicle and uploading it to the app, the traffic police will take prompt action against the offenders.
Since its launch on 15th June, over 42,700 complaints have been registered through the app, with more than 32,000 cases already addressed by the Pune Traffic Police. Common violations include two-wheeler riders using mobile phones while riding, triple-seated vehicles, signal jumping, car drivers not fastening seat belts, illegal parking, and auto and taxi drivers refusing fares. Other issues such as tinted glass vehicles, driving on footpaths, corner parking, wrong-way driving, and heavy vehicles on busy roads during rush hours are frequently observed, often leading to accidents and fatalities.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav highlighted the app’s convenience, saying, “One-click action allows citizens to report violations quickly. Given the limited number of police personnel and the numerous roads in the city, citizens’ support is crucial for maintaining traffic discipline.”
The app is not only for punitive measures but also serves as a tool for emergency assistance. Users can report accidents, oil spills, potholes, waterlogging, fallen trees, or traffic jams. The app also provides updates on traffic alerts, parking spaces, and challans.
DCP Jadhav emphasized, “By uploading pictures of unruly drivers, citizens help enforce traffic rules, reduce accidents, and ease congestion. This app empowers residents to hold themselves and others accountable on the road.”
