Pune: Over 231 Illegal Constructions Demolished in Chakan Area
Chakan, 16th September 2025: To ease traffic congestion in Chakan, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), in coordination with other government agencies, has launched a large-scale encroachment removal campaign. So far, more than 231 unauthorized constructions and roadside encroachments have been demolished since the drive began on September 10.
The action is being taken jointly with Chakan MIDC and under police protection. The campaign covers stretches along the Pune-Nashik Highway and Talegaon–Chakan–Shikrapur Road. Officials said the drive will continue for the next few days to ensure smoother traffic flow in the industrial hub.
PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase and Additional Metropolitan Commissioner Deepak Singla had directed the concerned agencies to take firm action. The drive is being implemented in collaboration with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Chakan Municipal Council, and Maharashtra State Industrial Development Corporation (MSIDC).
Authorities had issued notices earlier, asking individuals to remove encroachments voluntarily. However, after the notices were ignored, enforcement measures were taken.

September 10: 40 unauthorized constructions cleared along the Pune-Nashik Highway (Chakan Chowk to Ektanagar, 3.1 km).
September 11: 110 encroachments demolished on the Pune Highway stretch (Ektanagar to Chakan Chowk, 3.1 km).

September 15: 39 encroachments cleared on both sides of the road between Chakan Chowk and Shikrapur (1.3 km).
