Pune: Elderly Woman Dies After Rickshaw Overturns in Yerawada

Yerawada, 23rd September 2025: A 78-year-old woman, identified as Shobhana Laxman Mohite, died after a speeding rickshaw overturned in the Nagpur Chawl area of Yerawada. The incident occurred on 11 September in front of the Yerawada post office.

According to police, Mohite sustained severe head injuries when the rickshaw lost balance while she was attempting to get off at around 3:45 pm. She later succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

Mohite’s son, Satish Mohite (56), filed a complaint at the Yerawada police station, stating that the accident was caused by the reckless driving of the rickshaw driver. The driver has been identified as Pitambar Lotan Desale (28), resident of Munjaba Vasti, Dhanori. Following the complaint, the police registered a case against Desale under relevant sections of the law.

Police Sub-Inspector Satre is investigating the incident.
