Pune: Young Woman Threatened with AI-Manipulated Obscene Photos in Pimpri Chinchwad

Pimpri Chinchwad, 23rd September 2025: The Chikhli police station has registered its first case in the city involving threats made using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to manipulate a young woman’s photographs.

According to police, a 20-year-old woman filed a complaint after an unknown person created a fake Instagram account in her name and began sending her threatening messages. When she warned the individual that she would approach the authorities, the accused reportedly used AI to digitally remove her clothing from one of her Instagram photos and sent it to her, threatening to produce more explicit images and circulate them online.

“The victim was terrified and immediately approached the police,” said a Chikhli police official. “We have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology (IT) Act. The investigation is ongoing, and we are working to trace the accused.”
