Gandhi Jayanti 2025: Solapur Division Walkathon Leads Swachhata Pakhwada Activities
Solapur, 2nd October 2025: The Solapur Division of Central Railway observed Swachh Bharat Divas on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti as part of the ongoing Swachhata Pakhwada 2025. The day featured a series of cleanliness and awareness initiatives reflecting Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean India.
The programme began with a Walkathon from the Divisional Railway Manager’s (DRM) Office to Solapur Railway Station’s main gate, flagged off by DRM Dr. Sujeet Mishra. Around 150 officers and staff participated in the march. A Swachhata Shapath (cleanliness pledge) was administered at the station, reaffirming collective responsibility towards hygiene.
At the Station Manager’s office, DRM Dr. Mishra, along with senior officials including Sr. DME, Sr. DCM, Sr. DEN (Co), Sr. DFM, Sr. DEN (C), CMS, ADME, ASC, and the Station Manager, paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.
As part of Amrit Sanwad with passengers, a Nukkad Natak (street play) was staged on Platform No. 1 at Solapur station before passengers of Udyan Express and other scheduled trains. The play, performed by the cultural team, highlighted the importance of cleanliness in stations and trains. Passengers gathered at the platform responded positively to the performance.

Later, Sr. DME Ram Lal Pyaase thanked participants for their involvement and announced the culmination of the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Abhiyan 2025 in Solapur Division. He noted the observance of Gandhi Jayanti as Swachh Bharat Divas, underscoring its significance for railway staff and passengers.
In addition to Solapur, cleanliness rallies and awareness programmes were held at depots and stations across the division, including Kalaburagi, Latur, Dharashiv, Kurduwadi, Wadi, and Pandharpur, engaging railway staff and local communities.
