Pune: Fifth Case Registered Against Gangster Nilesh Ghaywal for Forcible Seizure of Flats in Kothrud
Pune, 10th October 2025: The Pune Police have registered yet another case against notorious gangster Nilesh Ghaywal, his brother Sachin Ghaywal, and seven of their associates for allegedly forcibly seizing 10 flats in a newly constructed building in Kothrud.
The complaint, lodged by a local businessman, marks the fifth criminal case against Nilesh Ghaywal in the past fifteen days, further intensifying the police crackdown on his gang’s activities.
According to officials from the Kothrud police station, the complainant was developing a residential project in the area between 2022 and 2023. During the construction, Nilesh Ghaywal and his men allegedly threatened the builder, claiming that no work could proceed without Ghaywal’s approval. The accused later demanded ownership of several flats in the project.
Although the builder refrained from filing a complaint at that time, he later alleged that after the completion of the building, Ghaywal and his aides forcibly took possession of 10 flats and rented them out to others. The rent payments, according to the complaint, were being collected on behalf of Nilesh Ghaywal through a man identified as Bapu Kadam.
Following the builder’s complaint, police have registered an offence pertaining to criminal intimidation, extortion, and illegal possession of property.
A police officer from Kothrud police station said, “We had appealed to citizens to come forward with information or complaints related to Nilesh Ghaywal’s activities. Following this complaint, a case has been registered immediately and further investigation is underway.”
Ghaywal Family Absconding
Police sources confirmed that Nilesh Ghaywal is currently abroad, with his last known location traced to London. Teams from Pune Police have conducted search operations at his residences in Pune and Jamkhed, but no family members were found.
The case adds to the growing list of criminal charges against Ghaywal, whose activities have drawn scrutiny following the recent firing incident in Pune and controversy over the weapon license issued to his brother Sachin Ghaywal.
