Pune, 27th October 2025: The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested a software engineer from Pune’s Kondhwa in connection with a terror-related case following extensive searches and investigations earlier this month.
According to officials, the ATS had conducted searches at multiple premises in Pune on October 9, 2025. The operation led to the seizure of several electronic devices, documents, and literature suspected to be of evidentiary value.
Based on the incriminating material recovered during the investigation, an FIR has been registered against Zubair Hangargekar of Kondhwa under the relevant provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967, as amended in 2008.
He has been sent to police custody till November 4. The arrest is linked to the October 9 search and FIR, during which electronic evidence was seized. ATS sources claim the accused was allegedly associated with Pakistan-based Al-Qaeda and was planning anti-national and terror activities in Maharashtra and other cities while hiding behind his professional identity.
