Pune: Rain Fails to Deter Women’s Enthusiasm at Baner ‘Home Minister’ Event
Baner, 27th October 2025: Heavy rain didn’t dampen the spirit of Baner’s women, who turned up in large numbers for the ‘Home Minister’ competition held to mark the birthday of social worker Poonam Vishal Vidhate. The event, filled with games, performances and friendly contests, saw women from different backgrounds participating with enthusiasm.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Shankar Mandekar said the turnout reflected the growing participation of women in community activities. He acknowledged Vidhate’s work at the local level, saying she has consistently taken part in efforts related to women’s welfare and social causes. “When effort is genuine, people respond with affection,” he remarked, adding that such events help build a sense of belonging among residents.
Over the years, Vidhate has been involved in organising activities such as women’s marathons, cultural competitions and training workshops aimed at skill development. While praising the initiative, Mandekar urged citizens to continue supporting individuals and groups who work for civic betterment.

The ‘Home Minister’ competition concluded in a lively atmosphere with participants showcasing their creativity and confidence. Winners were felicitated with prizes amid applause from the audience.
The event also saw the presence of actresses Anushka Sarkate and Sonali Patil, along with former corporators Pramod and Sushma Nimbhane, former Mulshi Panchayat Samiti chairperson Sarika Mandekar and several community members.
