Pune, 28th October 2025: The State Election Commission (SEC) has announced the schedule for determining ward-wise reservations for the upcoming Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections, bringing clarity to political circles that had been eagerly awaiting the announcement.

According to the notification, the draft reservation list for PMC wards will be released on November 11, followed by a period for citizens to file objections and suggestions until November 24. The final reservation list will be published on December 2, after considering all submissions.

The SEC has outlined a detailed schedule for the process:
October 30 – November 4: Determining the number of reserved seats and submitting the proposal to the Election Commission.
November 8: Publishing the public notice of the reservation lottery.
November 11: Conducting the reservation lottery and submitting results to the State Election Commission.
November 24: Last date for objections and suggestions on the draft reservation.
November 25 – December 1: Scrutiny and decision on objections and suggestions.
December 2: Publication of the final reservation in the Government Gazette.

The Pune Municipal Corporation election will be held for 165 corporator seats across 41 wards. Of these, 50 percent (83 seats) will be reserved for women. In addition, 22 seats will be reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC), 2 seats for Scheduled Tribes (ST), and 44 seats for Other Backward Classes (OBC).

Political analysts note that once the reservations are declared, parties and aspirants will begin finalizing their potential candidates and strategies based on ward allocations.

The announcement of the reservation lottery is seen as a key step toward conducting the long-pending PMC elections, which have been delayed since the municipal term ended in 2022.
