Saswad, 29th October 2025: The land acquisition process for the proposed Chhatrapati Sambhajiraje International Airport in Purandar taluka has gathered pace, with the measurement of 1,254 out of the required 1,285 hectares now completed. Officials said farmers have voluntarily offered an additional 148 hectares of land adjacent to the proposed project area, and its measurement is expected to be completed within a week.

The proposed international airport will be built across seven villages — Kumbharvalan, Ekhatpur, Pargaon, Munjawadi, Khanwadi, Udachiwadi, and Vanpuri — in Purandar taluka. The land measurement work began on September 26, marking a key step before the formal acquisition process begins.

According to district administration officials, a detailed report on the land measurement, including the additional 148 hectares offered by farmers, will be sent to the state government shortly. Once the state gives its approval, a high-level committee will determine the compensation rate for land acquisition. After that, discussions with landowners will be held to finalize agreements.

“The measurement process is nearly complete. The report will soon be sent to the government, after which compensation rates will be fixed and the process of distributing compensation will begin,” said a senior official.
The administration further stated that a public notice will be issued under Section 33(1) of the MIDC Act related to land acquisition. In case of any disputes regarding compensation rates, fresh negotiations will be held with the farmers before finalizing the amount.

Earlier, farmers had demanded a higher return in the form of developed plots as part of the compensation package. They are now keenly awaiting the state government’s decision on whether their demand for an increased return ratio will be accepted during the final rate determination process.
