Dr. Soumya Swaminathan to deliver PIC-Wipro Annual Lecture on Disruptive Health Technologies
Pune, 30th October 2025: Pune International Centre (PIC), supported by Wipro, is pleased to announce the PIC-Wipro Annual Lecture, to be delivered by Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, Principal Advisor to the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, and former Chief Scientist, World Health Organization (WHO).
Dr. Swaminathan will speak on the theme: ‘From breakthroughs to better health: making
disruptive technologies work for India’. The lecture will explore how disruptive technologies are reshaping the frontiers of healthcare globally. Realizing the promise of these technologies in India requires more than innovation. It calls for investment in local research, contextual adaptation, robust data systems and strong primary care foundations to ensure equitable, evidence-based implementation.
This lecture is a part of the PIC-Wipro Annual Lecture series, themed ‘Science, Technology and Society’, which brings together eminent voices to examine the multidimensional nature of technology and its relationship with society from different angles. These include areas where humanity has clearly benefitted and those which merit a more careful assessment.
Wipro’s support for this initiative aligns with one of its key societal commitments: fostering inclusive public urban spaces that promote art, culture and intellectual engagement rooted in constitutional values. Its collaboration with PIC reflects a shared vision of nurturing vibrant, citizen-centric cities through dialogue, knowledge exchange and public-spirited partnerships.
This session is free and open to the public.
