Speeding Car Crashes into Pune Metro Pillar on Paud Road; Driver Saved by Airbags
Nal Stop, 6th November 2025: Barely days after three youths lost their lives when their car hit a metro pillar near Bundgarden station in Koregaon Park, a similar incident occurred late Wednesday night on Paud Road near the SNDT Metro Station. A speeding Honda City rammed into a metro pillar, leaving the vehicle completely mangled. Fortunately, the driver survived, thanks to the car’s airbags and the quick response of bystanders.
The accident took place between 11:30 pm and 12:45 am in front of the SNDT Metro station. Social activist Hrishikesh Balgude, who was traveling towards Swargate with a few friends at the time, witnessed the crash. “A Honda City came at high speed from the left and within seconds collided head-on with the pillar of the double flyover,” Balgude said.
Acting promptly, Balgude and his friends stopped their car and rushed to rescue the injured driver. “We pulled him out and used his phone to contact his family. We also called the police control room and traffic police,” he said. Initial information suggests the driver is a resident of the Alankar Police Station area.
Meanwhile, a large crowd gathered at the scene, with many choosing to record videos on their phones instead of helping.
The crash occurred on the stretch from Paud towards Deccan. Police have begun investigating the case.
