Pune, 10th November 2025: Step into 74-year-old Lalita Paranjape’s old wada in Sadashiv Peth, and you are instantly transported to an era of old-world charm and unmistakable Puneri grace.

The wada hums with the cheerful chatter of women gathered to learn the intricate art of hand embroidery under Lalita’s patient guidance. She teaches stitches such as the long and short, chain, herringbone, and feather, in her own distinctive way — sketching each design herself, which her students then bring to life with needle and thread.

This creative legacy traces back to her mother-in-law, Late Mandakini Paranjape, who first began the embroidery classes decades ago. Lalita has lovingly carried that tradition forward, nurturing it with discipline, dedication, and passion. Today, even her daughters have joined her in keeping this creative lineage alive.

This week, Varsa Reshamancha — a five-day exhibition curated by Paranjape and her students — will come alive with hand-embroidered artworks, sarees, purses, and more. The showcase is a heartfelt tribute to three generations bound by thread, creativity, and legacy.
