Pune: ThynkTech India CEO Arrested in Alleged Fraud Case; 700 Employees Left Jobless in Hinjawadi
Hinjawadi, 3rd June 2026: In a major development in the alleged fraud case involving Hinjawadi-based IT company ThynkTech India, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have arrested the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Harshal Thakare, after the firm allegedly shut down its operations overnight, leaving around 700 employees jobless and unpaid.
A court has remanded Thakare to police custody until June 9 for further investigation.
The company, located in Phase II of Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjawadi, had reportedly recruited a large number of freshers and trainee engineers over the past year.
According to employees, the company initially operated normally and paid stipends of around ₹15,000 per month to newly hired candidates. However, from February onwards, employees began experiencing delays in salary payments.
Staff members alleged that salaries, which were usually credited on the 7th or 8th of every month, started getting delayed frequently. In several cases, employees claimed they remained unpaid for months. When workers approached the management regarding the issue, they were allegedly informed that the company was undergoing an internal audit and that all pending dues would be cleared soon.
However, in a shocking turn of events, the company allegedly shut down its office overnight without prior notice. Employees arriving at the premises found the office locked, triggering panic and uncertainty among hundreds of workers. Some employees were reportedly issued salary cheques by the management, but the cheques were later dishonoured when deposited in banks.
Based on complaints lodged by employees at the Hinjawadi Police Station, police registered a case of cheating and arrested CEO Harshal Thakare on Wednesday. Around 40 employees have filed formal complaints so far, while more affected workers are expected to approach the police in the coming days.
Police have also booked the company’s Human Resources (HR) head and a manager in connection with the case. Investigators are examining whether other individuals were involved in the alleged fraud and financial irregularities.
Meanwhile, the Labour Commissionerate has also taken cognisance of the matter. A team from the labour department visited the company premises for an inspection but found the office locked and non-operational.
Assistant Labour Commissioner S.T. Shirke stated that the department would seek an explanation from the company regarding the incident. He added that although employees have not yet formally approached the Labour Commissionerate, the department has initiated preliminary action based on the ongoing police investigation.
