Indian Army Conducts High-Intensity Desert Exercise to Validate New War Tactics
Jaisalmer/Pune, 12th November 2025: Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, reviewed the operational preparedness of the Sudarshan Chakra Corps and Shahbaaz Division during Exercise MaruJwala, held in the Thar Desert under the Tri-Services framework of Exercise Trishul.
The large-scale exercise served as a validation of innovative Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) developed to enhance joint combat capabilities. It featured the use of new-generation equipment, including indigenously produced drones and counter-drone systems, underscoring the Indian Armed Forces’ focus on technological self-reliance and modern warfare integration.

The drills showcased coordinated combat manoeuvres involving mechanised and infantry columns, along with aviation assets of the Thar Raptors and the Indian Air Force, operating under realistic battlefield conditions in the Desert Sector.
Lt Gen Seth interacted with participating troops and lauded the professionalism, agility, and operational excellence demonstrated by all ranks of the Sudarshan Chakra Corps, as well as formations and units from the Southern Command, Airborne Forces, and the Indian Air Force.
