Pune: 7. St. Vincent’s High School Strengthens Emergency Preparedness With Fire Drill
Camp, 15th November 2025: St. Vincent’s High School marked Children’s Day with a full-scale fire evacuation and disaster management drill on Thursday, conducted in coordination with the Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) Fire Brigade. The exercise aimed to build preparedness among students and staff and strengthen their ability to respond effectively during emergencies.
The evacuation was carried out first, with hundreds of students and school personnel moving swiftly to their designated assembly points. School authorities said the drill helped reinforce the importance of calm, disciplined and timely action during a real-life crisis.
The training session was led by Fire Brigade Superintendent Rohit Ranpise and his team, who briefed students on the different classes of fire and the correct techniques to tackle each type. They also showcased key equipment used during firefighting and rescue operations, offering students a close look at the tools and procedures followed by emergency responders.
The brigade team further explained the steps involved in clearing fallen trees — a common hazard during monsoons and storms — and demonstrated the safe handling of fire extinguishers. Students were taught the widely used PASS method: Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep, and several volunteers practiced the technique under supervision.
In his address, Principal Rev. Fr. Titus Thangaraj SJ urged students to remain alert, calm and vigilant during any disaster. He thanked the PCB Fire Brigade for their support and for imparting crucial safety knowledge to the school community.
The school said more such drills will be conducted periodically to enhance safety awareness and ensure readiness among students and staff.
