Minimum Temperature Rises in Pune; Light Rain Likely in Western Maharashtra, Say Experts
Pune, 20th November 2025: After over a week of sharp winter chill, Pune is now seeing a steady rise in minimum temperatures. On Thursday, the IMD’s Shivajinagar observatory recorded a minimum of 11°C, while Pashan reported an increase from 9°C to 10°C within 24 hours, ending the city’s single-digit spell.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted partly cloudy conditions in Pune from November 22. Weather experts have also indicated the possibility of light rainfall across western Maharashtra later this week.
Earlier, on Tuesday, November 18, Pune recorded its coldest morning of the season at 9.4°C—its first single-digit minimum this winter and 5.6°C below normal. The city was even colder than Mahabaleshwar, which registered 10°C. The chill continued on Wednesday with another single-digit minimum of 9.5°C. Across the district, six stations reported lows between 7°C and 9°C, with Haveli recording the season’s lowest at 6.9°C.
According to the IMD, night temperatures are unlikely to dip further. Instead, a gradual rise of 2–4°C is expected across Maharashtra in the coming days.
A developing system over the Bay of Bengal is also likely to influence regional weather. The IMD’s November 19 bulletin states that a low-pressure area is expected to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal around November 22. It may move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression by November 24, strengthening further over the southwest Bay of Bengal in the next 48 hours. Under its influence, isolated light to moderate rainfall is likely in parts of Maharashtra, including Pune.
“There is no significant weather warning for Maharashtra, including Pune. Minimum temperatures have already started rising. From November 22 onwards, the city may see partly cloudy skies during late afternoon and evening hours. However, no rainfall warning has been issued for Pune yet,” an IMD Pune official said.
