Market Yard, 24th November 2025: Prices of several major vegetables have increased by 10 to 20 percent at the Gultekdi wholesale market as arrivals remained lower than demand, market officials said on Sunday. The rates of okra, guar, tomato, milky pumpkin, cucumber, bitter gourd, brinjal, shevga, cabbage, and cauliflower saw a significant rise compared to last week.

In contrast, a sharp increase in the arrival of peas from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh has led to a drop in pea prices.

According to market officials, around 90 trucks of fruits and vegetables reached the Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Market Yard from various parts of Maharashtra and other states.

Senior agent Vilas Bhujbal said 14–15 tempos of green chillies from Karnataka, 6–7 tempos of carrots from Rajasthan, 4–5 tempos of cabbage from Karnataka, and 2–3 tempos of shevga from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu arrived on Sunday.

Additionally, the market received 3–4 tempos of totapuri raw mangoes from Tamil Nadu, 3–4 tempos of ghevda from Karnataka, 2 tempos of groundnuts, 2–3 tempos of pavta, 8–10 tempos of peas from northern states, and 10–12 tempos of garlic from Madhya Pradesh.

From the Pune division, arrivals included 500–600 bags of Satari ginger, 5–6 tempos of okra, 4–5 tempos of guava, nearly 7,000–8,000 boxes of tomatoes, 5–6 tempos of green chillies, 7–8 tempos of cucumbers, 8–10 tempos of cauliflower, 3–4 tempos of carrots, 5–6 tempos of cabbage, 8–10 tempos of capsicum, 50–60 bags of groundnuts, 10–12 tempos of red pumpkin, 100 trucks of onions, and 40–45 tempos of potatoes from Indore, Agra, and nearby localities.

Leafy Vegetables Turn Costlier
Low arrivals have pushed up the prices of leafy vegetables. Demand has remained strong, causing most varieties to become more expensive. The market received 1.25 lakh bunches of coriander and 50,000 bunches of fenugreek on Sunday. Compared to last week, the prices of coriander, fenugreek, chakavat, and spinach have decreased slightly, while rates of betel leaves, onion greens, safflower, mint, flax, radish, amaranth, and chavali remained stable.
