NDA 149th POP: Legacy of Sacrifice Highlighted at Hut of Remembrance
Pune, 30th November 2025: The Hut of Remembrance at the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, once again became the focal point of honour and reflection as the academy marked the Passing Out Parade of the 149th Course. Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, who reviewed the parade, visited the memorial and laid a wreath in tribute to fallen heroes.
Regarded as one of the most sacred spaces within the NDA campus, the memorial stands as a symbol of courage and sacrifice. It was originally constructed through voluntary community labour by cadets of the 10th to 17th courses to honour soldiers who laid down their lives in the Second World War and in the early years of independent India, including operations in Jammu and Kashmir.
Over the decades, the Hut of Remembrance has evolved into a living tribute to NDA alumni who lost their lives in various combat missions. It also preserves the legacy of cadets who passed away during their training at the academy.
The Navy Chief’s solemn homage served as a reminder to the passing-out cadets of the responsibility they carry forward — upholding the values of honour, bravery and selfless service woven into the NDA’s history.
