Sadashiv Peth, 9th December 2025: A significant fire broke out on Monday at the popular Ramesh Dyeing outlet in Sadashiv Peth, triggering a large-scale emergency response from the Pune Fire Brigade. The blaze was first reported at 11.52 am, and within minutes, multiple fire tenders were rushed to the busy market locality, ensuring the situation was brought under control within an hour.

When fire personnel reached the three-storey establishment, intense flames and thick smoke were seen rising from the terrace area, where solar panels and a tin canopy had been installed. Firefighters, equipped with Breathing Apparatus Sets (BA sets), entered the building to confirm no one was trapped and began extinguishing operations simultaneously.

Due to limited access to the fire’s core location, the team made their way through the adjacent Shah Brothers shop. By removing sections of tin sheeting, they were able to spray water directly onto the burning zone, effectively stopping the fire from advancing to lower floors or neighbouring premises.

Authorities confirmed that no one was injured in the incident. However, the fire caused extensive damage to stock stored on the upper level, including sweaters, rainwear, school bags, suitcases, and other merchandise. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

A total of ten fire tenders from the Fire Brigade Headquarters, Kasba, Janata, and Erandwane fire stations, along with water tankers and a hydraulic platform, were pressed into action. Nearly 50 personnel, under the leadership of Fire Officers Vijay Bhilare and Pankaj Jagtap, participated in the coordinated operation. Police teams, MSEDCL staff, local residents, and the 108 ambulance service supported the efforts at the scene.

Chief Fire Officer Devendra Potphode praised the timely and coordinated response of his team, stating that the rapid deployment of multiple units played a crucial role in preventing a potentially severe incident. “Firefighters acted promptly to bring the situation under control. Their swift intervention helped contain the fire and avoid any injuries or casualties,” Potphode said.
