Pune, 9th December 2025: Symbiosis Schools Central Directorate organized a study tour to Japan. A group of 30 students from grades 8 and 9 of Symbiosis Schools in Pune and Nashik embarked on this enriching tour and were accompanied by Kavita Longani, Teacher, Symbiosis School, and Kshipra Potdar, Director, SGS.

Students visited schools in Tokyo and Takasaki, observing Japan’s disciplined academic routines, collaborative learning practices, and values of respect and responsibility. Cross-cultural exchange sessions with Japanese students helped them form meaningful global connections.

Students also immersed themselves in Japan’s cultural heritage through hands-on experiences such as a Judo class, origami workshop, a traditional tea ceremony, and a yukata-wearing session. These activities provided insights into mindfulness, creativity, discipline, and the elegance of Japanese traditions. Students further explored the country’s culinary heritage and the emphasis on cleanliness and order in daily life.

A visit to the Tomioka Silk Mill, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offered a historical perspective on Japan’s silk industry and its role in the nation’s early industrialization.

The educational tour to Japan was an enlightening and transformative experience for the Symbiosis students, combining cultural exchange, academic exploration, and personal growth. By embracing both the ancient traditions and modern innovations of Japan, the students returned with a broadened perspective, a deeper appreciation for cross-cultural connections, and a renewed sense of global citizenship.

This journey reinforced the importance of global learning in shaping the leaders of tomorrow and reaffirmed Symbiosis Schools’ commitment to providing holistic, internationally-minded education that truly embodies the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’- the world is one family.
