Pune: Baner–Balewadi Youth Leader Jayesh Murkute Meets Sharad Pawar, Sparks PMC Poll Buzz
Baner, 25th December 2025: Jayesh Murkute, a young leader from the Baner–Balewadi area and Working President of the Kothrud Assembly constituency of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar faction), met senior leader Sharadchandra Pawar at his Silver Oak residence in Mumbai. The meeting reportedly focused on discussions related to the upcoming Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections.
Following the meeting, Murkute shared a post on social media with a cryptic Marathi couplet, suggesting confidence and resolve, which has drawn attention in local political circles. Though no official statement was issued on the outcome of the meeting, the interaction is being seen as politically significant ahead of the civic polls.
Over the past few years, Jayesh Murkute has emerged as a young, well-educated, and research-oriented leader in the Baner–Balewadi belt. Senior leaders including Sharadchandra Pawar and MP Supriya Sule have publicly supported Murkute on several occasions and have attended various programmes organised by the Jayesh Murkute Social Foundation.
In recent months, Murkute has been actively studying civic issues across the ward and engaging with residents through discussions focused on finding practical solutions. His work has resonated with citizens in areas such as Baner, Balewadi, Sus, Mahalunge, Pashan, Someshwarwadi and Sutarwadi—localities largely populated by IT professionals and educated voters.
