BJP Starts Door-to-Door Outreach in Pune’s ward 9 Ahead of PMC Elections
Pune, 4th January 2026: With the Pune Municipal Corporation general elections 2026 approaching, political activity in ward number 9 has begun to intensify. The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday formally launched its campaign in the ward with a padyatra led by its official corporator candidates Rohini Sudhir Chimte, Ganesh Janoba Kalmkar, Mayuri Rahul Kokate and Lahu Gajanan Balwadkar.
The padyatra commenced from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Memorial in Baner and passed through several key locations in the ward, including Hanuman Mandir, Ram Mandir, Bhairavnath Mandir, the PMC Garbage School area, Shri Savatamala Mandir, Balewadi Phata, Shri Ganesh Mandir and concluded at the Shivam Balwadkar contact office.
Party flags, slogans and the presence of party workers marked the outreach, while residents along the route were seen interacting with the candidates as the procession moved through residential and commercial pockets. BJP leaders said the padyatra was aimed at reaching voters directly and highlighting local civic issues ahead of the polls.
Speaking during the campaign, candidate Lahu Balwadkar said the focus of the outreach was on development-related issues. “This is not just a campaign, but a commitment to development. We have entered the fray with a concrete action plan for cleanliness, basic infrastructure, water supply, roads, public safety and good governance in ward 9,” he said.
A large number of BJP office-bearers, party workers, youth, women and senior citizens participated in the padyatra. Political observers noted that the early mobilisation reflects the party’s organisational readiness in the ward, even as rival parties are still in the process of finalising their campaign strategies.
Some local residents welcomed the direct interaction with candidates. “Instead of only making announcements, the candidates are on the ground and speaking to us. This is how democracy should function. We will vote for development,” said a resident from the area.
The padyatra has added momentum to the election atmosphere in ward number 9, with campaigning expected to intensify further in the coming days as parties step up their outreach ahead of the civic polls.
