Pune: PMPML Fines Instagram Influencer Atharva Sudame Rs 50,000 for Shooting Reels Inside Bus
Pune,7th January 2025: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has taken action against Instagram influencer Atharva Sudame, imposing a fine of ₹50,000 for allegedly shooting reels inside a PMPML bus without permission and misusing official transport department accessories.
According to PMPML officials, Sudame recorded two Instagram reels inside a PMPML-operated bus and was seen using an official uniform, an e-machine and a badge without prior authorisation. The videos were later uploaded on his Instagram account (@atharvasudame), following which PMPML issued a notice to him on January 2, 2026.
The notice asked Sudame to submit a written explanation within seven days at the PMPML head office on Shankarsheth Road, Swargate. However, officials said no reply was received within the stipulated time.
As a result, PMPML has imposed a penalty of ₹25,000 for each reel, amounting to a total fine of ₹50,000, and has directed Sudame to deposit the amount immediately.
In its communication, PMPML has warned that failure to pay the penalty could result in the registration of an FIR under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act.
Officials said unauthorised filming inside public transport vehicles raises security concerns and violates operational norms. They reiterated that recording videos or using official uniforms and equipment without prior approval is not permitted.
PMPML said further action will be decided based on the influencer’s compliance with the payment directive.
