Baner, 9th January 2026: The candidature of Jayesh Murkute, NCP (Sharad Pawar) candidate from Ward 9, has been described by party leaders as a blend of long-standing loyalty and confidence in emerging leadership, rooted in the Murkute family’s decades-old association with the party.

The Murkute family has been linked with the party since its inception. Ashok Murkute, a former Panchayat Samiti member, and Ranjana Murkute, a former corporator, have remained closely associated with senior leader Sharad Pawar for over three decades. Party functionaries said this relationship represents not just political affiliation, but a sustained tradition of trust, commitment and public service.

Speaking on the occasion, Jayesh Murkute said the party’s ideology and grassroots work have shaped his political journey. “I have grown up watching organisational discipline, people-centric politics and commitment to ideology. This candidature is a responsibility to carry forward that legacy with honesty and hard work,” he said.

Jayesh Murkute said his focus would remain on local issues and strengthening direct engagement with citizens. “Public trust is built through consistent work on the ground. My effort will be to remain accessible to party workers and residents, and to raise issues that affect daily life,” he added.

Party leaders pointed out that securing a candidature in the current political scenario, marked by intense competition and alliance candidates across constituencies, was not easy. They said Murkute earned the opportunity through sustained organisational work, loyalty to the party and credibility among workers.

Describing the nomination as a moment of pride, senior party members said Jayesh Murkute’s candidature underlines the party’s approach of promoting young leaders who remain committed to its ideology and organisational values. They added that the decision reflects a balance between respecting political legacy and encouraging a new generation of leadership.

Jayesh Murkute’s nomination, party leaders said, stands as recognition of a long tradition of loyalty while signalling trust in youth leadership to take that legacy forward.
