Pune: Jayesh Murkute’s Candidature Highlights Loyalty, Youth Leadership and Party Tradition

Baner, 9th January 2026: The candidature of Jayesh Murkute, NCP (Sharad Pawar) candidate from Ward 9, has been described by party leaders as a blend of long-standing loyalty and confidence in emerging leadership, rooted in the Murkute family’s decades-old association with the party.

The Murkute family has been linked with the party since its inception. Ashok Murkute, a former Panchayat Samiti member, and Ranjana Murkute, a former corporator, have remained closely associated with senior leader Sharad Pawar for over three decades. Party functionaries said this relationship represents not just political affiliation, but a sustained tradition of trust, commitment and public service.

Speaking on the occasion, Jayesh Murkute said the party’s ideology and grassroots work have shaped his political journey. “I have grown up watching organisational discipline, people-centric politics and commitment to ideology.
